One of the biggest goals for the church here in Cusco is to teach generosity and a giving spirit to our members. This Christmas in Cusco was a great one for our church! On Christmas Day we had the chance to go to the Regional Hospital and hand out gifts to just about everyone in the hospital. Another great thing about getting a chance to do this project is that it was completely led by Peruvians. They organized what we were going to give, who we were giving to, encouraged the members to donate, and did it much better than any of the missionaries would have done. In missions there is nothing more exciting than seeing young christians starting to take the initiative to spread God’s love. One of the young ladies who organized the project, Carmen, was just baptized early this year. She was so filled with joy to have the chance to organize our Christmas project, we practically had to pull her out of the hospital; she wanted to help and spend so much time with all the people. Please pray for the people in the hospital for their physical and spiritual health and for our church members that their hearts can be more and more opened to serving the people of Cusco.
For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’“Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:35-40
