In Peru they celebrate Father’s Day and Mother’s Day on the same days we do in the states. Mother’s Day is probably a little bigger deal here, but I think most people want to do something special for the special men in their lives on Father’s Day as well. Cole’s “jardin” (preschool) had a special breakfast with all the dads the Friday before and it was a fun day for everyone. We decided to honor the fathers in our congregation with a special presentation after services. The kids’ class had prepared special crafts and candy bags for them (with help from our creative interns Corinne and Lacee) and we also served cake to everyone as well. Our church dynamic here in Cusco has been an interesting one because we have always had a good number of men attending our services, at times with more men than women. We are thankful that God has blessed us with some great men serving our congregation who will someday become great spiritual leaders for their families and for the church in Cusco!
